It was an incredible experience being at the Garden and watching a nerd from East Bridgewater on such a big stage. Congrats to Joe and his team for a great victory and experience.

I’ve been on an appreciation-of-posters kick lately. My latest creation involves a favorite sport of mine, coupled with simple and bold typographic design. Golf and design are both easy, right?

Craig graduated from The Culinary Institute of America with an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts and a Bachelor’s Degree in Culinary Arts Management.

Jay-Z has always been one of my favorite artists – but the man has done far more than music. In this commercial for Rhapsody, Jay-Z stars in a commercial that recreates his many album covers – a concept that could only work with perfect execution. Needless to say, the commercial is a smash and I’m a huge fan.

Additionally, I also picked up Jay’s latest album, The Blueprint 3. The album surprised me, in a good way. There are plenty of solid tracks and his collaborations with Rhianna, Alicia Keys, Young Jeezy and others hit the mark. Take a listen!

I’ll admit it – I’m not a skateboarder. I may have tried it a few times in my youth on a horribly ugly Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles skateboard, but I’d tear my Achilles if I hopped on a board today.

However, if I decided to take up the sport again, there’s no doubt that I would start with this elegantly designed board that is a typographer’s dream. The info comes from Aisle One, one of my favorite design blogs.

Simply by chance, I came across an excellent documentary recently that captured a project involving the new BMW Z4. BMW worked with a famous artist to develop a piece of art (and coinciding event) that expressed the joy of driving a BMW Z4. I found the entire process incredible. If only I could see the exhibit in NYC!

It’s Nice That, one of my favorite blogs, recently created its first-ever print publication. It arrived in my mailbox not too long ago – and needless to say, I’m a big fan. Learn more about the publication here and also read my views on print vs. web over at the HB blog.

I love messing with video. Although I’m far from talented in the video world, I thought this was a fun, simple video that shows my day in the most brief way possible. Filmed in late 2008.

Excellent use of strong type and simple design by Tom Crawshaw, a Britain-based designer (picked up from AisleOne, one of my favorite design sites).

There’s a lot to be said for simplicity. Generally speaking, if a project’s design elements are well-developed (type, paper, color, spacing), the resulting design will reap the benefits. Tom proved it here with a sophisticated, yet modern design.

One of my ‘09 goals was to blog more – and more specifically – to display more of my design concepts. To that end, here are a few teaser poster concepts I designed at Hart-Boillot for a now-defunct incentive trip. Take a look at how one of the posters might look in a bus station environment.
