Best House Band Ever
Tuesday, December 9th, 2008
Jimmy Fallon isn’t my favorite, but having The Roots (!!!!!) as his house band is simply crazy-go-nuts. You best believe I’ll be tuning in (OK, I’ll be recording) the first few shows.

Take a look at my review of the series finale of The Shield, my all-time favorite television show. Warning: do NOT watch if you haven’t seen the final episode yet – I discuss the show’s story lines at length!

The Shield

It’s almost that time… less than a week from now, the last episode of my all-time favorite show, The Shield, will premiere on FX.
Upon its conclusion, the show will have spanned seven seasons, all while paving the way for other FX shows and literally creating the cable-based drama. The success of the show, lead by Michael Chiklis as Detective Vic Mackey, has made FX into a powerhouse cable network.
Needless to say, the show will be sorely missed when it airs its last episode in late November. At least I’ll have the DVDs to cherish.

Tapped Out

This week, the Versus channel aired an episode of their mixed martial arts show, “Tapout” which featured Dan Lauzon. The younger brother of UFC star Joe Lauzon, Dan has just as much potential as Joe and will be a great fighter someday.
Unfortunately, this episode did not paint Reality Self-Defense and Bishop’s Boxing (two gyms that both Joe and Dan train at) in a good light. Because of poor editing and forced “real” storylines, it appeared that Joe and Dan trained with a bunch of crumbums.
It was upsetting to see RSD painted in such a poor light – the small school has consistently cranked out successful local fighters (not to mention two UFCers).
Joe addresses the Tapout episode on his blog. You can learn more about Reality Self-Defense (soon to be Lauzon MMA) here.
